چکیده

The study aimed to assess the application of Approach avoidance task (AAT) with children measure implicit motivational tendencies towards foods differing in sweetness and calorie content explore relationship between approach bias explicit measurements expected liking, attitudes, hunger state their relation paired-preference tasks. simplicity game-like procedure AAT, where participants use a joystick pull or push pictures, seems particularly suitable biases children. However, our knowledge, this has not been used food related context. Children aged 9–11 participated (n = 114). Their pictures snacks was measured via AAT. test instruction based on pushing pulling according picture category, vs. non-food: (18 snack varying calorie) non-food visually similar respective stimuli). Further, rated liking answered an attitude questionnaire health sugar consumption, completed two paired preference tests tasting real samples under blind condition choosing no-sugar added chocolate milk take-home pack. percentage non-valid AAT responses relatively high, leading low testing power. There significant difference pictures; positive for slightly negative non-food. Within no effect nor found. Nevertheless, children’s were linked ratings, which revealed clear high snacks. Individual differences but attitudes milk, indicating relevance situational choices. In present study, questionnaire-based (affective cognitive sugar, craving using as reward) however associated (blind and/or informed). Higher scores subscales sweet food, reward, affective higher odds choose milk. Methodological considerations recommendations regards approach-avoidance are critically discussed.

Implicit and Explicit Instruction and EFL Learners’ Implicit Knowledge Development: Evidence from Word Monitoring Task

Research on the effect of implicit and explicit instruction on developing learners’ explicit knowledge by the use of measures of explicit knowledge abounds in the literature. However, measuring learners’ implicit knowledge employing fine-grained measures has rarely been the concern of researchers in the field. Therefore, the present study is an attempt to scrutinize the effectiveness of implici...

Measuring the Effectiveness of Explicit and Implicit Instruction through Explicit and Implicit Measures

Many studies have examined the effect of different approaches to teaching grammar including explicit and implicit instruction. However, research in this area is limited in a number of respects. One such limitation pertains to the issue of construct validity of the measures, i.e. the knowledge developed through implicit instruction has been measured through instruments which favor th...

Implicit vs. Explicit Knowledge in Dialogical Logic

A dialogical version of (modal) epistemic logic is outlined, with an intuitionistic variant. Another version of dialogical epistemic logic is then provided by means of the S4 mapping of intuitionistic logic. Both systems cast new light on the relationship between intuitionism, modal logic and dialogical games.

COGNITIVE NEUROSCIENCE Implicit vs. Explicit Learning Activity

Explicit learning is a more conscious operation where the individual makes and tests hypotheses in a search for structure. Knowledge attainment can thus take place implicitly (a nonconscious and automati...
